NC Meetup
Was a blast! I got to meet people who I otherwise would have only recognized by their lj icons ^^'
The day started interestingly, with Amber's outfit not in the Post Office within the projected time. I wanted her to go the meet up, but I also didn't want her to be the "random friend I brought in jeans and a tshirt, hey Amber can you take our picccies???" person. So she invaded my closet (sadly, she is not exactly as small as me in the torso, but smaller than me in the bust, so this was pretty difficult). We ended up using my Vogue Collections JSK. She didn't look horrrible, but of course her new dresset and petticoat would have been eons better. They arrived at her post office right in the middle of the meet up.
We invaded the mall, and I got to use my patented, "Actually, it's Japanese street fashion called Lolita (not like the Nabakov novel), and it's about Victorian and Princess-like clothes and just dressing up cute and elegant" Faulkner run-on sentence line about THIRTY times, normally proceeded by "No, we're not in a play" or "No, there's not a costume ball." My favorite comment was "pokemon people" O_o'
Highlights: Meeting other Heather (salem sister!),shopping at Claires, lamenting the fall of Hot Topic. I think the last time I shopped there was the end of the Gothic era and the beginning of the emo era. To those who don't care about that and just go there on a whim, I suppose that's not important to you, but for those of us who loved it in its prime and enjoyed going in the mall again in our uber goth clothes..it's a big deal that it's so emo scene now. Also, meeting the seamstress of Snow Falls at Night. Her work is amazing. Everyone was awesome. :-)
Oh, and seeing Dark Knight. FUCK YES.
Not so highlights:
I hate my face a little. For some reason my make up caked in the heat and i got clammy and i'm too ffing white and my hair got messed up by the humidity it didn't photograph well. I'm going to invest in some better makeup. I wore the coordinate I attempted to take a pic of with my digicam a few posts back. Better photos on the comm.
Amber didn't have her outfit yet (in the mail still) and had to borrow my clothes sadly. If she ends up on lolifucks, everyone can kiss my ass. It was her first go round and she got stuck with whatever in my closet fit her. I'm glad she got to go on her 21st bday, and I know she will have a super closet next go round. ;-)
I'll probably add more to this post later, cause I'm dead tired and have been cleaning/sewing for the past five hours and am about to pass out.
