IRL Updates
Haircut:
Good news is that I didn't end up looking like Elsa Lanchester. Bad news is that I didn't end up looking like Jaclyn Smith either. The lady did not listen to me about not minding the curls, just do the cut. Instead, she tried to ship a bunch of curl products on me, and in the end I looked like the lead vocalist of Twisted Sister sans make-up. I wasn't happy, but she was just SO nice that I didn't want to say anything. I got home and brush out all the curls (and curling products), and was horrified to discover that she did not feather my hair (1970s), only near the ends (a la Jackie O). I had a Bridezilla-esque meltdown on the phone with my mom, then called the hair salon back. I have a make-up appt on Wednesday with the top guy at the salon @ 8:00 pm. I am bringing some Charlie's Angels merch with me as a working illustration of my request. Hopefully when this is all said and done, I will be able to walk onto the set of That 70s Show as a hair double.
In other news, my shirt came from target today, and it fits great! My only issue is the unfitted collar. For some reason, Isaak Mizrah think thats XL boobs means I have an 8 inch thick neck as well. An easy alt, so I'm not worried.
Tonight I'm going to work on my first skirt! SQUEE. I found an antique gold color fabric with a lavender rose bouquet print on it in the quilting section (I was like OMG ROCOCO BOUQUET in PURPLE STYLE PRINT--twas a very all-caps feeling). I made a muslin one first to test, and now that I've worked through the kinks *cough*wheretogatherit*cough* I'm ready to move forward! Wish me luck.
Still have to see summer movies..not sure how, though.
I went to Claires after the haircut o death (metal) and treated myself to their 10 for $10 sale. Nothing alleviates my pain like wearable sparkly objects. I bought a cupcake necklace and phone charm for Jennifer (who apparently is now obssessed w/ Meta's apple print), and a LOT of hair crap for me. Damage is as follows:
1. Giant pastel blue rose haircomb
2. Pastel Butterfly steel hair barrettes (the b-flies are cloth)
3. Sleeping Beauty crown necklace (tres gothic)
4. Enchanted charm bracelet featuring Giselle in her emerald curtain ensemble
5. Purple kitty earrings
6. Tortoiseshell large crown hair barrettes
7. Brown stockings (that don't fit and I'm probably gonna alter)
8. Umm...wow. I bought one more thing, but I don't remember what it was.
All-in-all, I was well distracted by the goodies. Hopefully everything will work out..I'm not to vain about other parts of my body, but my hair's already a 500 dollar investment and I don't intend to have it f**ked up.
