CHAPTER 1

It was two lips meeting, a clumsy kiss filled with emotions from the past and present. Hands met, lacing fingers with clumsy love.

They parted and he licked his lips, shyly looking up at her.

"Cut."

They parted, a disinterested expression on his face as he turned towards his dressing room. She looked after him letting a long sigh escape her lips.

“With the final day of filming being tomorrow,” the director began “I was thinking of treating all of you to a fancy dinner, tomorrow night”

The rest of the crew nodded in agreement, and a mutter passed through the crowd that had gathered, they all understood why this was offered.

The movie had been a low budget one, the actors as well as the entire camera crew, technical department and make-up department had been forced to live on set and eat non-expensive food for all six months of filming. The one special dinner was a customary way for the more privileged of the film crew to apologize for the living conditions. No one until Kim Kibum had ever declined such a special offer.

“He lives a cushy life, that’s why,” suspected the chief of the technical department, Cho Kyuhyun.

“He’s too shy to accept.” offered the head of the make-up division, Lee Sungmin.

“He doesn’t care” states the leading actress, a very beautiful older woman by the name of Erica.

Both leaders turn their heads at her, surprised that she would join in their secret behind-the-curtain-of-the-make-up-division conversations.

"Ah, that makes sense." Kyuhyun says, maintaining his negative view on the actor

“I mean, he doesn’t like people,” Erica clarifies “so he wouldn't engage in an activity that involves people, right?” She tilts her head to the left and places a finger on her chin, thinking.

“Right…” both chiefs say, looking from their own faces to hers.

“Goodbye”

A passionate kiss, skilled and nostalgic as hands intertwine and grip clothing, longing to unbutton shirts and touch hidden skin.

He turned away from her as she climbed into the cab. Her hair --scented with the hopes they’d held onto for so long --hopes from long ago that had disappeared into the night air with the last kiss-- whipped around her as she turned, for the last time, to look at him. She expected a shy face longing for her, waiting for her to make a move while he sat in the classroom looking studious. She expected those old rectangular glasses, broken at the joints and skewed like his baggy clothing.

She found none of her expectations, met instead with the sharp emptiness of a darkening street corner in the middle of the city.

"Goodbye" she whispered, to no one and nothing in particular.

For a long time, there was silence on the set as the camera solemnly stopped recording and Erica stepped away from the cab, still holding her pretend luggage and looking towards the darkness that had surprised her character so much. Her face contorted into a frustrated look as she watched him walk away from the set, to the coat room.

He slipped into his light jacket, a feeble attempt at protecting himself against the horrible cold that engulfed this part of the world.

“Wait,” she called after him, dropping whatever props she had in her hands and running towards him.

"Wait." she called again, but he'd opened the door already, letting the cold air waft in, drawing complaints from the other actors.

He didn't turn around like she'd wanted desperately, but he paused. A pause that defined the entire moment as worthwhile. But she hesitated. And he was gone.

I wrote this.. last November. It's part of a bigger story. A novel actually. But I suppose I never got very far on that.
The names are just... I couldn't think of other ones I guess.. I just used people who fit the character somewhat.

character: kyuhyun, character: kibum, !finished, character: sungmin, !writing, band: super junior
