In preparation for the big trip in May, I made arrangements to leave my birds with a sitter, who I met with last night.
She told me over the phone that she has a few birds and pets, and she wasn't kidding. I counted 12 parrots, one dog, and three large aquariums, and she mentioned that she had a rat as well. And in addition to this she had various pets and birds she was hosting. The small house was meticulous, the animals were very well cared-for and I can only imagine how much house cleaning work it must all entail for her and her family. The only drawback to the place was the noise of the animals; I could hear the parrots squawking and the dog barking from inside the car as I parked.
It's funny how sometimes things are put in perspective. I've had various friends over the years question my sanity over having, at the peak, seven relatively quiet sparrow-sized birds in two cages. If any of those people saw her place, they'd probably faint.
