In Arizona

I'm writing this morning from Tuscon, Arizona, for a quick update before we head out.

The trip has gone well so far. Except for a very, very slow and disorangized plane boarding, and some turbulence in the midwest, the flight went well.

We got into Phoenix on thursday night and met up with the very cute phoenixcub. We didn't get to see much of that area but are heading back up today.

Yesterday morning we headed to Tuscon. The trip was spectacular, it's the first time either of us has drivine through desert or seen wild cacti. For some reason the desert seems so big and vast and endless, even though it was a fairly short drive.

We met up with paganbear for lunch and did some desert hiking outside Tuscon. The desert walk was stunning...so much life even in such dryness. Cacti and suhuaro and ocotillo shrubs everywhere. The occasional lizard or bird. Mountains in the distance. And dry, sandy red rock. Very different from any terrain I've visited before. It was a great day and we were quite thankful for Pagan taking us to the spot.

This morning we're heading back toward Phoeanix and may check out some parks along the way. Tomorrow will be the Grand Canyon.

Pictures coming eventually.
