I happened to catch
this editorial in the National Post this afternoon. The columnist is writing about some of the fatal mis-steps the Ontario Conservative leader John Tory has made in his campaign and how, with only a week left before the vote, it's too late for him to pull ahead. His big mistake today was flip-flopping on the issue of religious school funding.
Anyways, I just loved this little snippet:
All day Monday I listened to dyed-in-the-wool conservatives on my radio station trying to will John Tory’s flip flop into an object lesson in leadership...Conservatives are funny that way. When they’re down they remember how children were able to revive Tinkerbell through sheer force of conviction.
Isn't it true? And I noticed how Republicans kept doing the same thing in '06 (such as Karl Rove's
comment that "his math" gave him a clear majority in both houses), and will likely continue this for '08.
