So on saturday we had our annual local Hamilton bear dinner (well, not all the ones in Hamilton, just the 4 we happen to know and who also showed up). Dave cooked chicken breasts in a cranberry glaze kind of sauce, and we also had rice, steamed vegetables, bread, wine, etc. Nothing too fancy, but enough to entertain friends. We also spent a good part of the evening talking and gossiping, and it was good company. Overall it went quite well.
We also had a mini-gift exchange, and as in other years I recieved offerings of far too many calories, in the form of chortbreads, chocolates, and candy.
I intended to be socialist and redistribute this excess energy by bringing them to work and setting them out in the lunch room, but so many other people I work with had the same idea that it ended up in simply a trade of food energy units, rather than dispersal. So it still comes down to having the will not to eat it in the first place.
