Last night bear_left called me to discuss our plans next week. At some point we got talking about border crossings, Customs officials, and during our conversation I noticed and remarked on his New York City accent.

It reminded of a trip I took, almost 5 years ago, to visit pagerbear, during which we spent a few days visiting NYC (and picked up a case of food

Somehow, I imagine this woman popping him in the gut if he didn't let her in. But such may be my stereotype of Brooklyners. The people I know from Brooklyn have all been tough.

She wasn't going to take no for an answer, that was for sure. She was nice enough to me though, and bought me coffee from the snack bar during the long trip.

That was certainly nice of her, although in my rampant imaginary mind, are you sure she wasn't trying to pick you up? (G)

Not likely...she had a boyfriend in Toronto and was older than me (late 30's i'd guess, and I was 27 at the time). I think she was just being neighbourly.

Of course she was being neighborly, and that was nice of her. If only such a scenario would take place more often in our lives!
