[The current state of the moon has been troubling Fusoya just as much as, or perhaps more, than anyone, considering where his people are from. But despite that, he doesn't sound any different, except for perhaps being more solemn than usual.]

Quite troubling, the movement of the moon... One wonders what the cause is. I had thought that this was the ( Read more... )

You know a solution to this?

[Have a surprised teen's face staring at you through the journals, FuSoYa.]

If I had access to the moon, then I might be able to discover one. But I do not.

[Have a calm-looking old man staring back.]

I see...... [His face grows pensive. Evacuations might be the better option, then, as Shikamaru had said. But would they even be able to run from something that size....?]

I don't know of any way to get up there. It might truly be best to flee underground, at this point.

There was a vessel with such capability in my world, but I do not believe it could be summoned here. Doing our best to escape the moon's approach does seem to be the best course of action.

A vessel? A flying machine? [He had only heard of them, and seen a few during the draft.]

Precisely. It was called the Lunar Whale.

.........

[Sudden mental image of a FLYING WHALE. Give him a moment to process this and resist asking because that would look foolish, even if he is curious. I-It couldn't be, right?]

I see....

[Moment given. It might be difficult to tell with the beard in the way, but he's smiling a bit at Frey.]

Despite it's name, it is a trustworthy ship.

[He laughs a bit sheepishly, realizing he must have been caught gaping of he felt the need to reassure him. Oops.... It was not that he doubted it, it was merely that he was unused to the idea.] It must be, if it can fly to the moon.

Such things don't exist in my world. I only know what my friend Ceodore has told me of them. [He'd been tempted to Michael and Arumat more about them, too, but...]

Indeed. There is no other vessel like it.

Ah, you are a friend of Ceodore's? [The things you learn, talking about impending doom.]

You know Ceodore? [His tone is genuinely surprised.]

We're close friends. I've known him since shortly after arriving here.

I do. He is my great-nephew.

[One who he hadn't met until he got here, but family is family.]

.....You're his uncle? [He'd say he could see the resemblance but really it's kind of hard to do that when old age plus white hair doesn't really make for a good way to compare looks.]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Sir!

A pleasure to meet you as well, young man. Though you need not call me sir. My name is Fusoya.

[There's also something of a difference, considering that Ceodore is only one-fourth Lunarian.]
