The Danger of Playing The Blame Game

Apr 15, 2014 03:18

I would find people's whining over fake "violent" video games funny if it wasn't so sad and pathetic. I mean, as Mick Foley described people whining about Attitude Era WWE in "Foley is Good", certain people and groups and the tabloid trash mainstream news media love to apply a ridiculously liberal interpretation of cause and effect when it comes to fake "violent" video games. And accountability, since schmucks still want to blame fake "violent" media for society's ills and call for banning it in spite of the US Supreme Court decision in Brown v. EMA. At the end of the day, the only person responsible for that person's actions is that person, no one and nothing else. Pointing fingers is, quite frankly, pointless.

Is it the fault of WWE, TNA, Ring of Honor, CZW, and every wrestling promotion for kids mimicking the moves they see on TV? No, it isn't.

Is it the fault of Smith & Wesson, Remington, Glock, and every gun manufacturer for people using their products in the commission of a crime? No, it isn't.

Is it the fault of NASCAR, Indycar, Formula One, NHRA, and every auto racing league for people participating in illegal street racing or speeding? No, it isn't.

Is it the fault of the descendants of Marconi for a person accidentally or purposely dropping a radio in the bathtub, electrocuting another? No, it isn't.

If a plane crashes, is it the fault of the descendants of the Wright brothers? No, it isn't.

Is it the fault of Anheuser-Busch, Coors, Miller, Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, and any maker of alcoholic beverages for people driving drunk? No, it isn't. (One caveat: Bartenders continuing to serve drinks to an obviously drunk person)

Is it the movie industry's fault if somebody decides to jump out a 13 story building after seeing a Jackie Chan movie? No, it isn't.

Was it the play or Ford Theater's fault that John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Abraham Lincoln? No, it isn't.

Now it's starting to get too ridiculous, but the point still stands. If you're going to ban one thing based on ridiculously liberal interpretation of cause and effect, you'd have to apply that same standard to everything.

EVERYTHING.

I mean, to shut these imbecilic buffoons up, we'd have to ban not just video games, but also movies, music, TV, plays(Lincoln being assassinated), books(including the Bible since people claim God made them commit crimes), pro wrestling, mixed martial arts, boxing, football, baseball, basketball, hockey, auto racing, soccer, running, golf, figure skating, every other sport, and so on and so forth.

We'll live longer...................................................................................

.............................................................................but have nothing to live for.

You see how it gets out of hand?
