Round 1, Pick 14: Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State
Like last year, the Saints got the guy they wanted. Jenkins will start out at Cornerback instead of Safety like every expert thought. Jenkins gives the Saints' secondary a much-needed boost.
Jenkins was the Saints' only pick today with their 2nd rounder(and 5th) going to the New York Giants in the Jeremy Shockey trade last summer(the Giants drafted Virginia LB Clint Sintim with that pick). The Saints also gave up their 3rd rounder to the New York Jets for Jonathan Vilma and their 6th rounder to Green Bay to draft WR Adrian Arrington in the 7th round last year.
They did try to get back into the 1st round to draft Jenkins' Ohio State teammate RB Chris "Beanie" Wells, but Wells ended up going to the Arizona Cardinals at #31. Of course, they would had to have given up their 1st rounder next year.
The Saints have two 4th round picks(116th and 118th overall) and a 7th rounder(222nd overall) tomorrow, though they may try to trade up into the 3rd round.
Also, the Hornets beat the Denver Nuggets 95-93 to cut their deficit to 2 games to 1 in their best of seven 1st round series
