I decided to register on NaNoWriMo and write a novel from scratch this month, in order to provide some competition for my girlfriend, who has been in a panic mode as to what to write starting tomorrow morning.
She's done NaNoWriMo several times before. Last year she surpassed the 50,000 word count, but was only halfway through her novel before she stopped.
Did I mention that she's a published short story writer? She's written at least one full length novel, and two full length fan fiction novels, one of which is
Elfsong.
She has yet to actually publish a full length novel, but I think that someday she will. Sadly, she needs time to be able to do it, and with her current work situation I don't think that it will happen anytime soon.
I've been told by her that she has a competitive streak, and should I make the 50,000 word mark, she might be jealous, but not angry. By participating, I'll give her added incentive to complete another novel this year.
Does anyone remember the last time I actually wrote something that got published? I never did get to see the Double Visions that supposedly had my story in it.
