Per the NYT, there is another week-long CR in place so that the idiots in Congress can write up a budget bill. Apparently they've agreed on something. Whether or not that something is a good thing remains to be seen. I still would like to see all of them take a good swift kick to the unmentionables, as well as pay a hefty fine for fucking around like this. I think that would make GREAT TV.
In other news, I was able to go from bound side angle pose to bird-of-paradise and back on one side without falling over! Hooray for tangible progress!
I'm also making a big batch of
channa masala in the slow cooker for meals next week. It smells delicious, so far.
Weather-wise, it's supposed to hit 90 today, and we're in the dryest 4-month stretch we've been in since the '20s, and we've been having plenty of grass fires. I can't see that changing anytime soon. Year to date, we're about 5" below normal, where normal is around 7" of precipitation, and that's on top of ending last year about 4" below normal, too. Still and all, I've got all the windows in the house open to get things aired out, which is nice, and the cats seem to enjoy it too, since they were up all night climbing in and out of the window next to my bed.
In really, really exciting news, Kristina is set to defend for her PhD on the 18th. Think positive thoughts at her, and if you know of any job or post-doc openings in analytical chemistry (mass spec or lab manager or something like that), throw them her way.
