Days off are nice...

Because I can take the time to make a leisurely breakfast. This morning, I made a bacon-feta-chipotle-roasted pepper omelet (cooked in the bacon drippings, natch) served with sauteed carrots and green beans (also sauteed in the bacon drippings. Waste not, want not), with a big mug of English breakfast tea on the side.

I should have taken pictures, but I was all too eager to eat what I had cooked.

Now I am playing host to Scylla (lying over my left arm), and watching Gus prowl around and jump on things.

Last night, I slept well enough that I didn't notice Scylla come in and curl up under my chin until I woke up this morning, and there was something fuzzy and purring there. As usual, Gus slept on my shins most of the night, though at some point she took the time to go and knock a bunch of t-shirts off of my shelf.

I'm also participating in the Sam Knows FCC study of advertised vs. actual broadband speeds. That means I got sent a new router that reports speed statistics once a day to the FCC, and I can actually log in and see a number of quality-of-service metrics vs. time. The router is pretty nice, and has a USB port for NAS. That's pretty cool. Brandon came over to help me set it up and also set up the wireless print server that Robin got me for Xmas. It was a lot easier to get the Mac working with the printer than it was to get my Windows 7 lappie cooperating. Still, it's all working now, so that's good.

Since I have a long weekend, I'm hoping to get a few things done around the house. I'd like to get the header beam and the electrical stuff in the torn out wall sorted out, at least.

Yoga at noon today, and then some form of lunch. I'm thinking maybe stir-fried beef with garlic and eggplant.

life, computers, house, food, cats
