I think that all professors should have to go to commencement. There shouldn't be an exception. It should be a part of the contract.
I guess it would just be boring to have to go every year, but still - sometimes just having a favorite professor there could make all the difference to the student. And that way students can bring their parents to meet them and be like "this is so-and-so..." and they can meet face-to-face. It's like...I'm pretty sure all professors have had a senior in their class, and therefore they should see them graduate.
I remember my high school graduation when one of my teachers didn't show up because she was angry at a particular group of students. She was sad that she had let them control her the way that they did and therefore didn't want to be a part of it (at least that's the real reason....the fake reason is that she had something else to do). But still....it hurt that she wasn't there. I wanted her there and I asked her to come and she couldn't do it. I was pretty sad.
And I asked one of my favorite professors this semester if he'll be there for graduation and he said no. He has a legitimate excuse, but still... it's like, you now plenty of people who are graduating, you should be there.
Well, I'm pretty sure my advisor will at least be there. Lol. So that's somethin.
I'm on the home stretch toward being done.... just keep on pushin' and eventually I'll get there. :-D
Here's to Wednesday and being done!
