Nashville: Day Four

Apr 29, 2017 11:36

I've been having the most relaxing time this week.  I do miss work though.  I expect that it'll take me about a week to get back in the swing of things.  That's fine though.

We started out the day with Taco Bell breakfast, despite me telling myself that I wasn't get to eat anywhere that we have back in Cincinnati.  It tasted just like Cincinnati Taco Bell breakfast.  Imagine that.  We probably went to Walgreen's after, just like every other day that we've been here.  I probably bought something that I thought I needed, only to leave it in the bag.

We started recording around 12, they did, that is.  I was taking notes as to what drum parts were not quite on.  Around songs 7 and 8 I went outside to drink some sodey pop.  I came back in and finished up.  Mr. Drastic had said that he had been taking mental notes as to what needed to be corrected.  And seeing as he's been a drummer/drum tech for Less than Jake for years, I trust him.  He also stated that he wouldn't be satisfied with anything less than great.  For that I am glad that he's the person that we had do this for us.

Later on, Marcus and Sarah got ahold of me.  On the way to their house, I stopped at Great Escape.  It's akin to a Half Price Books, which they have none of here.  It was a bust.  Nothing good.  Mr. Drastic said that it can be hit and miss.  He also said that if you go to there after a person had sold a bunch of cool shit that you would spend mass cash duckets.  (Not those words specifically.)

When I got to Sarah and Marcus' house, we spent a few minutes catching up.  I told them that that was probably the most that I'd talked all vacation.  Their house was really nice.  Their dog, Tyler, even more noice.  He is a good dog.  I found out that Marcus really enjoys Archon.  It is one of the few games that I still enjoy playing.  It was a bust though, as the A (shoot) button on the second player controller was acting up.  They have an Etsy shop dedicated to nostalgic things.  Marcus' new hobby is searching through old Betamax and VHS tapes for commercials that aren't on the YouTubes.  He showed me a couple of Surf Cincinnati ones that I hadn't seen!  Or didn't remember having seen.  They also let me have three buttons, a Felix the Cat bobble wobble, and a White Lion cassette tape.  It just happened to be the one that I love, and remember trying to draw the lion's face in elementary school.  I also enjoyed trying to draw Garfield back then.

After those shenanigans, we went to The Pied Piper for dinner.  They go to there probably once a week.  Sarah initially said the nayno for dinner, as she had been there for lunch!  It was quite delicious.  I had mac 'n' cheese, and a Dolly Parton Melt.  It was grilled chicken, sauteed onions, and cheese on toast.  Both were most excellent.  I went to the restroom, which had a bunch of NKOTB posters on the wall.  Middle school Corrie wouldn't have wanted to leave that restroom.

Once we were done with dinner, we all were tired.  So they dropped me off, and we hugged goodbye.  Then I went back to the studio.  Bloodgate was done with bass, and eight tracks of vocals.  The bass sounded fantastic.  The vocals all sound quite awesome.  It is really turning out to be stellar AF.

The trip to Nashville has been pun and eye-roll filled.  The first day, I thought Matt and Scott had got it all out of their system.  I didn't even know that Scott was Punmaster Pun!  The second day was only marked by subtlepunnage.  Then, upon waking on the third day, I happened to still be wearing my egg socks.  The pair of them made almost twenty dad jokes in a row about them!  Here is an eggsample:

Matt:  Man, Eric, your brain must be scrambled!
Scott:  Naw, Matt, he's just a shell of a man.

Wow.  EYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRROoooooooooooLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

As is usually the case, I turned in early.  Scott turned me onto a YouTube playlist called important videos.  At first, I thought it was a list of videos that were important to him for one reason or another.  Turns out, it is a list of the most important videos for anyone who feels like they have lost their sense of humor.  Absurdity at its fooooiiiiinest.

Today, we're going to finish the album, and then go to El Rey Azteca in celebration for dinner.  Have a great day LJ!
