This will be my time to bitch and moan about an MMO based on Star Wars. They have added Beast Mastery to the game and a trading card game, and surprisingly, it still sucks and is boring, bereft of content as ever.
What I hoped to see upon return was the ability to create a Creature Handler, like in the old days. No, anyone can have combat pets - much like combat droids. You spend these specialty points you get past L10 and every 2 levels afterward on the Beast Master tree and you gain skills of the old Bio Engineering tree - sort of.
First point lets you operate a new crafting station known as an Incubator. You also gain a command to sample DNA from a creature, living or dead. You get one chance. If it’s alive, it may aggro you afterward, success or fail. You may also operate an enzyme extraction tool for Hydrolytic enzymes, a resource needed for the incubation process. DNA samples, looted Isomeric enzymes (2), hydrolytic enzymes, and Lysozymic enzymes (foraged-rare) are required to begin crafting.
Only if your hydrolytic enzyme has sufficient action points in it can you build up hunting/defense attributes of the creature and go through experimental phases. Otherwise, all the station can grant you is a color mod of the creature whose sample you entered.
Stations have a certain amount of power necessary to be deposited prior to being engaged (which must be geothermal in origin), and once committed, depending on the action modification of the unit, it can take 2 solid out-of-game calendar days to operate! This is the difference in price between a $600,000 credit unit and a $1,200,000 credit unit - whether you want to wait 2 days for it to make something or less. And if you want to spend even more on the unit, whether you want it to actually grant you mutations on your creature.
So, without having not just a fortune but a SERIOUS fortune on hand, beyond the combined resources of all my most mature characters on Starsider, I could not afford enjoying the creature crafting, dabbling, and experimenting I did in days of yore. I will not be making an extra damage and bleed Kimogila or a super armor Rancor. I am currently waiting another 6 hours after waiting over a day and a half on a plain, no mod bocatt.
It’s not as if I can go out and EARN credits. There’s no flow of thousands out these terminals. They are maybe 20k a day and it’s hard work. My xp cuts off after about 10 missions so I can only raise about 1-2 levels a day if that, probably less once I make it pass 14th. The Legacy quests have been done, and since I restarted my character in a new profession, I can’t start the legacy over again - it’s once only.
So there’s pitiful REPLAY content for characters who choose to change professions. Why they put this feature in the game sometimes confuses me. They should make it so you can transfer possessions to new characters and carry on that way. But no, there’s no way to mail or bequeath a character all your worldly goods.
WoW at least had a passel of daily quests to do. They were boring, but at least there. Better than these static “hey, go here and kill this nest of critters or camp of whosits” bullshit. Jeez, what kind of sloppy crap serves as content in this game and why so many people play when this IS its PvE…
Oh right. People play this game to shoot each other up at the starports. That explains why it’s like WWIII on Mos Eisley, Tattooine. What a nice scene for someone starting to log into! What a bunch of raving loonies. I think I’ll be quite glad to be rid of them when this trial is over.
