Torchwood 3
First of all, as I said before, they broke my heart. They keep breaking my heart. How could they possibly kill Ianto. Plus I don’t really like the way the season ends. Jack leaving earth with his ‘broken, beyond repair’-thingy, which now was suddenly repaired might be considered as selfish. Who will fight evil aliens now? But that is acceptable. What is not acceptable is that this ‘hopping-thing’ was actually working again.
Worst of all, one could easily end Torchwood at this point. With Gwen pregnant, Jack abroad and all the others dead, it looks like an end to me. And even if not, I doubt that they will ever have such great characters and such a good cast again. All the characters were so unique and so flawed. One had to love them.
Five episodes, five days in a row.. right, way too short.
Another neg. point:
- Stupid puking aliens. Not knowing how the threat looks like would have been scarier.
What I did enjoy were the painful decisions: 1/10 of all children or possibly the whole world and one (more precisely your) child for 1/10 of all children. I liked how the fist plan to safe the world didn’t work out, though the final plan was a little too easy, too stupid, too much like “Mars Attacks”.
There were over all quite a number of painful moments. Definitely a plus.
Jack died an awful lot this season. He finally got to be naked again (a happy day for John Barrowman?)^^ He was less Doctor-Who-Jack, no wonder regarding all the events. He felt guilty. No question he was the one to suffer the most.
Ianto was a great boyfriend and afraid that Jack might forget him in the future. His death was sort of painfully sweet. And no matter what, I will miss him if there will be a season 4.
Gwen, was Gwen. I liked her as usual. She survived, even her (unborn) baby survived. (Wow, at least a little kindness from the writers’ side.) She was brave and selfless as always.
Anyway, another Season is over. Another all in all thrilling season and I wish I would have more time to deal with TW 3 in detail and re-watch all the episodes but there are exams to write. And so there is as it has always been no time to do what is most important ;)
