i've decided i really like having thursdays off. not for any good reason though...its just like any other day now that michael is done with football. last night was his last game and it was awesome. first, we had our tailgate party before the game for the parents/families. that was really fun. lots of good food! then we went to the game and we borrowed my mom's friends camera that takes amazing pictures. that was really fun. so i was the camera girl for the game. it also made the game go by a lot faster. saw harv at like, the end of the third quarter. him and his dad came to the game at halftime. he went back up to stand with him and i took more pictures. we were ahead by one point with like, 30 seconds to go and they had the ball on the one yard line. i was freaking out. the kicked a field goal and i totally thought that it went in. but it didnt!!! they missed it and we got the ball back. it was amazing. i saw Mr. May and Mr. VanKempen (coaches) running around with their arms up...everyone was so happy! it was awesome. so we got the ball back with .4 seconds and kneed it and won!! it was such a good game...my throat still hurts from yelling!
so lets back up to the rest of my day. got the kids off to school and then ran to the store. got online when i got home and went to read a xanga of someone that is best friends with Vince (the driver of the car my cousin was in). the only reason i read it is because he writes about vince all the time and its the only way i know whats going on because the prob. officer wont tell us anything at all. but all this kid writes about is how vince is hanging out with him all the time and how they just recently (last weekend) went up to CMU for a frat party or something. now, i dont know everything, but im pretty sure thats against his probation rules. some people may think we are snitches, but when you lose someone the way we lost James, you blame the driver. and to know that that person is out partying and taking life for granted again...its like a slap in the face. "look at me, im still alive and still breaking the rules...i got away with it" thats what i think. so my mom emailed the people she needed to earlier this week about his trip to CMU. the probation officer investigated it and it was true...and Vince was picked up Wednesday and taken to a juvenile detention center. he will be there until he can be released on a thether.
I feel like this messed up system in this country has FINALLY gotten something right. For ten months now, Vince and his parents have fooled the probation officer and now he'll hopefully see the light and realize what we already know...his parents are more like kids. They lie for him and cover for him so they don't get in trouble because they know they have zero control over this boy. They next probation review is on November 15, 11 months to the day that James died. I really want to know what that Judge is gonna say. It's the same Judge that cried at the first meeting, and she also has two teenage boys that are James' age.
We had been emailing the prob. officer and victims advocate for a long time with all these things from this xanga. For a while, all the prob. officer would do was call the parents, ask if it was true, and then move on when they lied and said no. They said that whoever was writing those had malicious intent and was trying to make Vince look bad. Yeah, except it was his best friend writing it, and it was all true. Anyways...we stopped because we knew nothing was being done. But we did keep reading it...and my mom decided she had to pick up the emails again. She couldn't stand there while Michael and I were reading this and tell us it was no big deal...because it is. He was breaking the law, and the last time he did that, James died. The last thing we want is another person to get hurt...and we want Vince to learn his lesson. So my mom started emailing again and something finally happened. She said she felt like the system was failing James, and that she was at least going to do her part to make sure that SHE didn't fail him. I am SO proud of my mom!!
Well, thats about it. I have a date tonite!!! Jerry and I are going out. I'm so excited!!! Later!
