A Gay Marriage Paper I Wrote 2 Years Ago!!!!!!!!!!!
Gay Marriage
I truly believe that same sex couples should be able to marry in the U.S. and have it recognized in a court of law. Marriage is about loving the person you love and wish to grow old with. People say that marriage is between a man and women and should stay that way. The President of the US is trying to persuade Congress to write an amendment to define marriage as a union between only a man and a women. I was raised as believing that you should be able to fall in love with someone and be able to marry them no matter what sex, race, religion and sexual orientation. It's absolutly ridiculous that the gay couples of America can't be married in the US. In the city of San Fransisco the mayor is allowing gay couples to get married and marriage lisences, also certificates.
I have 5 important people in my life that are either gay or lesbian, that wish to be married to the ones that they love but the US doesnt approve of that. I have 2 people that have been together that have been like mothers to me they have been together for over 10 years. I love these women very much they treat me like their own flesh and blood. Five years ago they adopted a son and four years ago they adopted a daughter, no words in the world can describe how much they love thier children. What is really dissapointing in the fact that they have been together so long and they can't marry because the US doesnt approve.
What really upsets me is all the ignorant people that live in the US saying that same sex couples being able to get married is against the Constitution. I have read or heard of most of the Constitutions and there are NONE stating that gay couples can not be married. People in the US are really ignorant about this topic in my opinion you should be marry whomever you want and should not worried about being judged. What also reallys upsets me is the hatred and violence towards the gay people of America. In my opinion if you don't like gay people that is fine, but you shouldn't resort to violence to prove that you don't like gay people. Most gay people are scared to come out of the closet since they are scared to death of what people will think of them and do to them.
The violence towards gay people really needs to stop. An example of this violence towards the gay community is the infamous muder of Matthew Shepherd. Matthew was murdered because he was gay, the 2 men who murdered him believed that he was coming on to them so they beat him and left him hanging in a field for dead. The men who murdered innocent Mathhew Shepherd deserve the death penalty in my opinion but they each get life in prison. Hopefully no other acts like this will happen to any gay people while we wait for this debate to eventually be solved by the Congress passing an amendment that allows same sex couples to be married legally in the US.
People say that this country is the land of the free everyone born in the US recieves the right of freedom but then why can't gay couples of America be married? Everyone should be able to marry anyone they want to as it is promised to them in the constitution. But why is everyone having a tantrum about gay couples being able to get married. People have said that the gay couples being able to get married will destroy the very nature that has made this country so great can I tell you no it will not. Gay couples being able to be married will do nothing to the Constitution, the fabric of America, and it wont destroy the country. I have read people saying that what is next after we allow gay couples to marry, legal marriage to animals. Unless there is something wrong with you that is way beyond comparison gay people are people too they have rights and live, animals are not humans so why should someone wanna marry one? This is an example of the ignorance of America that really needs to stop.
