The amazing thing to me is that, after all these years, I'm still dumbfounded by how small the world is. She's from Oakton, which is about as far away from where I'm sitting right now as Naperville is from Fermilab, and in both places, I could describe every turn you'd take between here and there with my eyes closed, because all of these places are 'home'.

I went to high school at Chantilly and, my last year, Jefferson Tech, which are not too far from there. I think my AP chemistry teacher had taught at Oakton previously.

And at the other end, I certainly used to know a lot of people who worked at Fermilab, though given my academic specialization that's somewhat less remarkable.

I miss very little about my high-school years, but there are people from that era I'd love to see again.
