Almost Naked & My Encounter With Hillary

Oct 24, 2005 21:31

I haven't updated in forever! So, I figured I'd start back.

So, this past weekend was parent's weekend, and obviously my parents didn't come up because they don't love me. Well, actually my mom was traveling and my dad doesn't do those kind of things alone. Anyway, I woke up Saturday late and forgot that it was parent's weekend and sadly found that the dining hall was closed and the only way to get food was to go mingle on the quad with tons of families. If that forced mingingly wasn't bad enough (I was asked if I knew what a duvet was, and we talked for ten minutes about how guys pretend not to know what they are when they actually do...), I came back and decided to go take a shower. Well, as I stepped out of my room in just my towel, clutching my shampoo and body wash, I noticed the largest group of people perhaps ever assembled in my hall. I had to walk past this large family as I walked to the shower. It was just one of those really weird moments where everyone quit talking as the half-naked kid walked in between the family. Coming back was equally as awkward, and after I dressed I stepped out in the hall to say hello, and the mother made a comment on how brave I was to traverse the hall with them there. So, we talked about me almost being naked for a while which was kind of weird.

I know all of you missed Beamer stories, but it really was an awkward and slightly embarassing moment, I promise. I can't believe I haven't updated since I was in Europe. My trip was amazing. My summer was good. This semester's been going well. I've had a lot of firsts--I met and had dinner with Jimmy Carter (my first presidential encounter which was awesome and his speech was amazing and I can't wait to intern at the Carter Center next year), I ran a 5K, I rode a segway scooter, I went to a foam party (you should've seen Mallory in the foam). Sunday night, I got to go see Hillary Clinton speak at an Atlanta synagogue, and it was so cool. She gave such an awesome speech. It was really funny because she kept talking about the presidency, and I just kept waiting for her to announce her bid for '08, but alas, she wouldn't.

Well, that's pretty much everything. I've been psycho busy with everything going on, but I'm really glad that midterms are over. My brother's getting married in less than a month which is really hard to believe. I still can't get over going to see Hillary speak. It was so cool, and I got a free meal out of it which is always nice. I just had a conversation with my roommate, only to realize that his headphones are on, and he didn't hear a single word I said. That's a good way to feel stupid.

Here's the best picture ever (I think Rosalynn has a thing for me):

I hope everyone is doing well, and I'm sorry I haven't kept in touch with most of you. Drop me a line or call me if you're near Atlanta.
