While many other college freshmen were terrified on the first day of school to finally meet their prospective roommate with whom they were randomly assigned, I was much less anxious. At Emory, we HAD this really cool system called Webroomz where you could fill out a variety of forms and questionaires and it would magicly return a list of people you were compatible with. It was such a great system. Well, soemthing messed up with the contract and the housing situation has since gone to hell. I had sophomore friends that had to wait in person for more than 5 hours from 9 until 1:30 in the morning to reserve their housing for next year. I was hoping that I wasn't going to have to stand in line. Well, they worked out some kinks and now we can do most of it online. RES sent out an e-mail describing how the new process would solve conflicts between roommates over who stays in the room: "...a coin will be flipped by the RES staff member with the student whose last name comes second alphabetically making the call of either heads or tails. Only one coin flip per dispute will occur." A coin toss.... Did they have to sit around in a meeting and debate the coin toss. They call it a coin flip which is really weird. I've always heard coin toss. I just thought that was really funny.
