Bit of a panic out and about, it seems! Don't suppose anyone has a use for a twenty-third century Chief Engineer, then? Otherwise I'll be happy to keep my head down and continue tinkering with some of these ah... Macintosh thingamajigs. Twenty-first technology has so many superfluous bits tacked on for no discernible reason that I can see. It's a ( Read more... )

The library! I completely forgot! Is there anyone there besides yourself, Mr. Scott?

What?! What! The library! The library!

...

No, it's just me, old chap. What's the latest news, then?

From what I've learned of your reality since meeting you, perhaps a summary would be best. Mad scientist, destroys worlds, won't bloody stay dead. Here.

The Admiral's first mistake is in thinking Davros is redeemable, which immediately leads me to wonder what else is amiss and what safety we've got 'til he makes a move. I strongly suggest you retire, either to your room, the pub or the infirmary. We've not yet erected the force fields, so you may still go to them without the aid of Kurt's transm- er, teleportation. I'm doing modifications to the one I'm building, to strengthen it and mend the figurative chinks... I might even enlist your aid, if you're up to it. For once, my confidence in my own genius is shadowed only by my knowledge of his prowess.

Been poking my head into every bit of intel I possess, but I haven't been able to narrow down specific powers, mate. What's he got that gives him the upper hand?

I can build phaser shields if that's what you're asking, but if it's a specific kind of energy you need, I imagine it won't be too much trouble. Have you talked to Adric? I get the feeling he and I could fulfill any order you could make if we put our heads together.

I'll find my way to the infirmary, then.

PRIVATE: and btw, so was the last one, though I label-fail. SORRY, DAVROS! NO SECRETS FOR YOU HERE. a_bit_put_upon February 24 2010, 09:10:25 UTC
Determination. Deranged, formidable genius. Cunning and ruthlessness. He might be physically deteriorated, but that makes him no less a danger.

I'm not certain of which point in my relative timeline he hails from. I've no idea how far he's advanced since I saw him last. He recognised me, that much was clear, which means the poison remnants I've got left in my laboratory...

[Stressed out Doctor has ADD, apparently. A few minutes later]

Adric hasn't responded. I wouldn't dare put him into this. Not after what I- what he- no. He must stay safe.

Artron. That is- no. Are you familiar with mathematical computations?

Not to step on anyone's toes, Doctor, but if all of this mumbo-jumbo still applies to this Davros bloke, nobody's safe. Utilizing all of our resources until they're out of our reach or the problem's eliminated is really elementary stuff. Best to give him the benefit of contributing.

Adric lent me a few books on your TARDIS and his universe. Artron's complicated stuff, but not out of my realm of my understanding. Guess that's the best I can offer. I'll start reading up and lending a hand wherever you dictate.

I'm an engineer, lad. Mathematical computation's as familiar to me as being alive, and I'd love to stretch it out for you.

Ah, so you're the one he inquired after them for. Excellent.

You're aware, then, that artron powers much of my ship's functions within her relative dimension, and that she is composed primarily of block transfer mathematics?

Aye, I am!

Private - Indeed! SO MUCH SCIENCE TALK and maybe force field modification plotting? a_bit_put_upon February 25 2010, 16:57:51 UTC
Then you're aware that its structure is, as are those of the objects it helps me to create, malleable and can be changed with the correct equations.

Private - Yes. We can do that :E! beam_me February 25 2010, 20:43:29 UTC
Correct! What kind of change are we talking here, then?

The ability to combine different energy sources, in fact. My biological reserves are mostly taken by my ship, but I may be able to conduct a small flow to another source if fortified by outside energy.

I was also considering a modification to the force field to allow only organic matter and pre-programmed instances of inorganic matter to teleport through it, as well as specific biological imprints to be required in order to activate or deactivate. Every precaution we can take against Davros or his minions overwhelming the field is a good one.
