On the crystal clear waters of the gulf
The sun beat down so hard on the beach
People thought "How could the weather be any better?"
But soon people began to eat their words
And soon the dark gray clouds started to roll in
The seas beginning to show their angry force
As the great storm finally rolls in
The rain falling so hard it hurts the skin
Falling so fast that you can't see a foot in front of you
And conditions worsens as the night goes on
Then before you know it
Light is shed on hell
Looking outside you become mesmerized
Who could have possibly imagined
The death
The destruction
The flooding
Of the storm that broke records of all kinds
Significantly damaging hospitals, fire stations
Completely destroying cities infrastructure
Lives taking weeks, months, possibly even years
To completely rebuild
Never to be the same again
However, there is help
Help that comes from all over the nation
Volunteers in all shapes and sizes
Coming to help innocent people in dire need
What could be better?

This poem that you just read is dedicated to all the recent hurricane victims who literally have to rebuild their lives and to those who risking their lives to help all of those in need especially our marching instructor Chuck Hawkins who may be traveling to the disaster area to do whatever he can do. I also ask you to please make donations to the American Red Cross so they can use the money to help people rebuild homes and lives, give them fresh food and clean water. You may send these contributions through www.redcross.org or 1-800-HELP-NOW. May God bless them all.
