So, we were sitting in Waffle House at about 1 am after I got off work because we hadn't had dinner yet. (This new schedule is messing us all up). In walks this guy wearing jeans and a waffle house t-shirt carrying some D&D books. Kevin (lightheartedly) snarked about this guy being a nerd. My response was "Yeah? what edition was he carrying?" The immediate reply was "3rd". Then Mandie starts talking about a D&D group from her middle school. I just had to point out to them that you could barely see the books the guy was carrying let alone actually see the title. Who's the bigger nerd now? So Kev jokes again that at least he (Kev) isn't wearing a waffle house T-shirt. So I point out that every t-shirt Kevin owns except one has either magic the gathering, SCA or comic book designs. Again, who is the bigger nerd? We were laughing (at ourselves) so hard we had tears rolling. Yeah we are a family of comic book reading, RPG playing nerds. All I can say in our defense is that at least none of us are on warcrack.
Also, I've got the family hooked on Big Bang Theory. I love that show! I've got both seasons on DVD now and we have been watching back to back episodes. We have so needed the laughter lately and I totally "get" that show. Mandie shakes her head when Kev tells her what Sheldon's t-shirt is or when I explain the star trek stuff. (Did I mention that in high school I was conversant in Klingon? I wouldn't say fluent but close enough.) All I can say to her is that she knew the "science name" for vinegar in science class last year because that was how Dr Who killed the Slitheen. 'nuff said.
