My grandmother passed away Wednesday with me, my mother and my Aunt Val holding her. Since then it has been all about distractions. I'm not ready to talk about it much but I have been deep in books and movies. Anything to not think. So, later on this topic.
Other updates: The glass symposium is next weekend. I really need another marshal or an mol (I can be one but not both) but the Golden Rose tourney is unfortunately between Tear seas shore and most of the kingdom and it is a fighting event. So, we will have a full day of glassy stuff and great food (Mandie is taking over for me as head cook since I didn't get the stew made ahead of time.) It may wind up being a smaller event than I had hoped but you won't get glass instruction like this anywhere else for $8 site fee.
We did a great demo here at the Charleston Museum. They did an after hours event called a "night at the Museum" fashioned after the movie. They had us, the civil war guys, st georges, more civil war folks, actors and such. We wandered around in persona and some of us were part of the scavenger hunt. There was a list of questions. If we were wearing a question mark sticker then they had to ask us a question. I was the only Viking. Naturally I my beads got left in someone else's basket and I was in my plain linen dress and beigey apron dress (new). As an oatmeal Viking I was pretty boring. I had a basket of wool and was walking around doing naalbinding (or making knots while I walk.) No one believed I was the Viking. Sigh. No horns. The kids argued with me and so did the parents. Sigh. They thought I was the weaver or the soap maker. Sigh. It turned out to be an awesome demo that I think they will do next year as well.
And finally:
“The problem with Livejournal is that we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. Hence, I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don’t know about you.”
