So, I have been sick for a while now. I was diagnosed some time in January with bronchitis and pneumonia. I've been through tons of meds and still wound up in the ER a week ago Sunday. I have pretty much been treating this like a cold that just won't go away. This week I hit my exhaustion point. Getting showered and dressed for work has me huffing and puffing and ready for a nap. So, I made a decision.
I went to my boss yesterday, asked her for FMLA paperwork (work has some weird documentation rules) and I am home sick today. I'm taking the next 4 days off to rest. I'm going to hulu away the next 4 days and hopefully get better. When I went to see my Doc a week ago he said it may take 2-4 weeks for this to get better. Rest will help. This time around I'm actually going to take him seriously and stop pretending like pneumonia is no big deal. With my asthma it can be a big deal and I'm running out of treatment options. Taking a day of here and two days a week later and then again later is starting to be a problem. On FMLA my job is protected. Right now, I have reached the limit of my sick days for the year. I don't want to risk my job (or my life) by not taking this seriously anymore.
I'm off to the sofa to have some potato soup (comfort food) and watch hulu. I'm going to take the good cough syrup and do a breathing treatment as well. Then I'm going to sleep until Mandie comes home from ROTC. This time I really am going to make the effort to get better. Really.
