I just finished watching season 1 of Mad Men. It is seriously one of the most amazing tv shows I have ever watched. The writing is so tight, the acting so amazing, everything is just so fabulous. I'm hesitant to recommend it as it won't be a show for everyone, but if you like drama without dramatics, have an interest in American cultural history, and love characters who are all flawed (some self-destructive), this might be the show for you. It's not flashy or witty, just a quiet escalation of plot and personality that will just hit you in the gut before you realize what's happened. Brilliant.
