About John and Rodney and snowy days

Dec 21, 2008 15:09

I like to think of them curled up on a cozy couch in front of a crackling fire, Rodney reading and grumbling over some journal and John lying on his side, head on Rodney's knee, reading a magazine or comic book and sort of drifting, really, because Rodney is stroking him from shoulder to hip and every once in a while, cards his fingers in John's hair. Eventually, John gives up on reading and snoozes, one arm wrapped around Rodney's knees. Rodney pets John's silky, crazy hair until he falls asleep too, head thrown back against the couch.

A little while later, Rodney wakes both of them with a snort, his head having rolled forward with a bounce. He prods John into getting up so Rodney can lie down and press himself into the back of the couch. Once he settles, he looks up to see John sleepily smiling down at him, fond and rumpled. He holds his arm out in invitation and John stretches out, warm and pliant against Rodney's side. He gives Rodney a warm, chaste kiss so sweet and slow that Rodney kind of falls for him all over again.

John leans back, smiling as if knows what Rodney is thinking, then, with a contented noise, snuggles down with his face pressed against Rodney's neck.

"Perfect snow day," Rodney murmurs. John doesn't say anything, just holds Rodney a little tighter, and as he drifts off to sleep, Rodney can feel the brush of John's toes against his own, wiggling happily.
