...is just one of the most beautiful mouths ever. I keep getting dazzled and struck by it in people's icons and such. It's sensual without being overpowering in his face; it fits. It's expressive. It has that little cleft in the middle. His lips are a lovely color, not girlish in the slightest but sexy in a wonderfully male way. They look soft. His lower lip is cushy and probably very satisfying to nibble. But he doesn't just kiss indiscriminately, not a kissing bandit, oh no, and has on occasion, given very mediocre to bad good-night kisses out of discomfort and the need to just be *gone* from the whole situation.
There is a long line of women with long brown hair who have very disappointed expressions in John's past. They also tend to have kind of thin, brownish, easily disapproving mouths, which John took a long time to realize that he doesn't enjoy kissing all that much.
(He likes, he discovers, rosy lips. Sarcastic, imperfect lips. Lips that swell and flush a deep red when he kisses them.)
But if John Sheppard is attracted and things are going well and he really, really likes someone, his kisses are something special. You know they are. That husky, whispery voice of his, the way he moves in close and cradles the beloved face in his big, warm hands and leans in slow enough for the object of his desire's breath to catch.
The first kiss is always gentle, slow, and he waits for a sign; a gasp, a shiver, some indication of longing before pressing deeper - because holding someone's face in his hands is as much about creating more anticipation as it is bringing them closer, (so he's a bit of a control freak) and besides, if he really likes the person he's kissing, it feels right to hold him like that, careful and claiming, trying to communicate through his hands that this is something for John.
He's not above keeping the person right there, shivering and longing and trying for more contact. He loves that tiny moment when the person he's kissing surrenders, melting against him in a decision that's - in a heartbeat - gone from just kissing to "yes, please, please." When that moment happens? When John gets that silent "yes?" Lovely, lovely things occur.
Of course, there are also the kisses that are a complete surprise; the
coupe du foudre that makes the ground shake and that he never, ever sees coming. Those can be exciting (mainly panic) and hot (but also freaky) and there is only one couple du foudre that has ever ever truly ignited John Sheppard. And he had to wait nearly forty years and travel to another galaxy to be hit by it. When he thinks of it, his lips still tingle.
That's what John Sheppard's mouth is like. Really. I think there should be drabbles. And fics. And odes and stuff.
