Everybody catch up on the Checkmate 'Verse, because another ficlet is rattling around in my head. (Actually the next one is done, but I'm holding off to let everyone read this weekend's offerings

I am in total love with this universe. It is absolutely addictive.
My prompt (since you asked *g*)?
Would be an angsty one, involving John using his cat attack skills as an element of surprise to give the Marines an opportunity to take control of a situation, and getting injured in the process.
I keep picturing Rodney carrying John around in an Athosian basket filled with blankets everywhere while he recovers to keep him from roaming himself (because you can't keep a good cat down). ;-) Maybe the others would even take shifts, too? Not sure.
Thank you so much for sharing your writing. Reading these has been a joy!
AW. I've thought of that, a little. My Goldberry ate a snack that was actually 18 inches of nylon coated steel beading wire and had to have emergency surgery. You have never seen anyone so indignant or in pain in your life. I had to help her get from sleeping spot to sleeping spot because she was too sore to jump, and check on her to make sure she was properly hydrated and fed and such. She also liked to sleep, once she wasn't so sore, with her bare belly snuggled up to my side, because it was October and she was cold. :D
Don't take this suggestion seriously unless it sparks something, but I've been imaging John's first hairball. *grin* Rodney has had cats before and would probably figure out what's up (or about to come up) long before John would. John, on the other hand, might pull a Rodney and think something was poisoning him.

Oh no! I can see how easily something like that could happen, too. It looks like a string... Poor thing! *pets Goldberry*
We have four cats, and yeah, it's amazing how easy it is to become a human cat!transporter when the need arises. ;-)
