I've been experimenting with food, seeing what my new tummy likes and doesn't like. Early on, it did not like peanut butter, but it is more accepting now. Today, Zeke was craving chinese food for dinner and asked if it would bother me if he ordered some. I figured he wasn't likely to order chicken wings from my favorite place in waltham, so i knew i wouldn't feel left out. The place did have pork strips, which are probably the most boring thing on any menu, but I like them and knew they were lean, so i could get some. I ate half of one piece, plus 1/2 of a boneless sparerib. that rib was tasty as anything, but two bites was as much as I dared take since my tummy started rumbling.
We went to the Outback Friday night, and I just want to air my grievance with our waitress: I'm sorry that I did not order my own meal, but rather just a side and ate a piece of Zeke's steak. I'm sorry that you assumed we were just cheap people taking up a table on a busy night. I didn't finish my potato, or even the little bit of steak Zeke gave me. I hope you learned your lesson when we tipped based on what we normally would have ordered, because we aren't cheap annoying people who just order water to save money. I wanted to wait at the table until she walked by again after seeing the tip. Maybe she'd offer a refill or wish us happy holidays. Perhaps next time we'll just tell the server that we'll tip better than we order.
Apparently dining out is an experience to be re-learned.
The good news is I can enjoy a little bit of steak, a tiny bit of chinese food, and mom's fricot is still totally yummy on a cold day!
