SWEDISH BEACH TOUR 2011

Mar 15, 2011 23:20

INFORMATION SBT2011
FOREIGN PLAYERS

Swedish Beach Tour (SBT) is the official national beach volley tour of Sweden. SBT is organized
by the Swedish Volleyball Association and its event company "Svenska Volleyevent AB".
Each event is organized in cooperation with a local organizer and/or host city. All the games in
each tournament will be played on the centre court with stands of minimum capacity of 1 500
spectators. All the events are open for foreign players except for the Swedish championship
tournament in Malmö (only foreign players if the team qualifies with Swedish ranking points).
Swedish Beach Tour calendar 2011
Prize money
The amount mentioned in the calendar above is the sum of the prize money for both genders
(50/50) including the bonus pool (20 000 SEK at each event). Foreign players are according to
Swedish law obligated to pay tax which will be withdrawn from the prize money.
Technical info
Each event, except for the Swedish Championship tournament (32 teams per gender) and the
event in Falkenberg (12 teams per gender), will be played in an eight-team double elimination
format with semi-finals and finals, both men and women.
Qualification
The eight teams will qualify in three different ways. Four teams will qualify according to the
Swedish ranking, two teams will qualify through a qualification tournament (played the week
before each event) and the final two teams will qualify with wild cards. If less than two wild cards
are applied, more players will qualify through the Swedish ranking.
Wild card
The ambition is to have at least one foreign team in each event (each gender) on the tour. The
wild cards will be administrated by a committee within the Swedish Volleyball Association.
