Please join X-Project for the opening reception of Amandine Drouet's installation Variation in White from 5pm - 7pm on Thursday, August 7th.
When beholding the tranquil beauty and brilliancy of the ocean's skin, one forgets the tiger heart that pants beneath it; and would not willingly remember that this velvet paw but conceals a remorseless fang. - Herman Melville, "Moby Dick"
Amadine Drouet creates work that explores connections between seemingly opposing forces: beauty and decay, the known and the uncertain, loss and regeneration. Variation in White grew out of Drouet's fascination with the undersea world. This work draws us into a shimmering, unfamiliar, and fantastical space on which we are ultimately invited to inscribe our own story.
Opening Thursday, August 7th, 5pm - 7pm. Artist reception, Thursday, September 4th, 5pm - 8pm. Variation in White on view in the atrium at the Student University Center at Georgia State University through September 19. The Student Center is bounded by Courtland and Gilmer Streets and Piedmont Avenue on the downtown campus of Georgia State University. Organized by Alana Wolf and presented by ASU Exhibition Project, Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design. Please contact asuexhibitionproject@gmail.com for more information.
