Thank god the Derby is over!!!
Yes, I made it through yet another Derby Day Party. This one was my third and I am happy to announce (since it makes my boss and board members very happy and when they are happy, I can be happy and can keep my job and expect a raise in July) that this year we raised the most money since we started the Derby Party six years ago! $60,000!! We fuckin' rock! We had over 300 people there, everyone partied and had a great time and donated mucho dinero to their favorite youth shelter! And we did it all without a live auction! Hell yeah, bitches!
And now I will proceed to lavish my ego....yet again, I worked a 16 hour day on Saturday for the Derby, a 14 hour one the Friday before and well over 8 hours each day the week of Derby. Yes, I did freak a little (but only to Wayne) mid-Saturday a few hours before the guests arrived, but only because it was a horrible weekend (graduations, weddings, Mother's Day) and we were short staffed for set-up. But, after doing this for three years, I could do this event in my sleep. Yes, I'm going to say it...I owned this event! There I think I'm done.
So, now it's back to work as usual. Send the thank yous, start work on the newsletter, update the website, move into our new office space and start work on our golf outing set for July. Weeee!!!! Oh, did I mention I started school again?? I decided that one semester off was enough and now I'm taking my marketing class with Dr. Sims. He came highly recommended and he's finally teaching this class again. If I don't make an A in it I have serious issues.
Oh! And with work paying for half my books and tuition I'm gonna buy a laptop because I hate Wayne's computer! He bought it for school back in 2000 and the thing just has so much junk on it (hard drive and keyboard...I hate it when he eats around the computer!) so I want my computer that I can take where ever and it will be mine and I will love it and pet it and take it for walks...It will be the start of a beautiful relationship. Eww...it's almost 11 and Wayne isn't back yet. I left him a message to bring me home some ben and jerry's and I want it now! hehe...
