Far Away
I stepped out for just a little while
And forgot to come back that night
skipping over mile and mile
the world beneath my feet
seemed so right
From far away everything looks so perfect
It looks like what i will never be
blooming flowers, crested hills, and the rolling sea
contented minds, hope, and distant dreams
and there was a simple beauty
to where the objects lay
Everything fits so perfectly from far away
When you cant see the jagged imperfections
the cracks in my walls
the ugly distorted reflections
of all the noble wishes we hold for humanity
Everything fits so perfectly
Your hand fits in mine
like a lock around a key
and you could see
everything inside me
everything there is to find
the wonders and the pain
inside this mind
all my perfect mysterious misery
But only from far away...
And I float closer so to hope to see inside your eyes
but I can only see my reflection
and so ends my deception
as your hand glides to your hip
and you look right through me
I stay forever far away
