My kid's Bar Mitzvah went well today. I've been back home an hour.
Kristin is staying at the hotel to give Josh a sleepover there with the set of his friends who worked on the big charity fundraising project.
It's pretty hot today, by the way, at least from those of us used to New England as opposed to, say, Tampa (my cousin Keith asked me why I had gotten so sweated up dancing in such comfortable temperatures. But I digress.). I got home and took a shower. Started unpacking my car. Broke the second thing I unpacked. Fixed it (I think) with the third adhesive I tried. Continued unpacking the car. Changed into a dry t-shirt. Finished unpacking the cab of the car, then vacuumed it (back seat not being a naturally tenable position for a Large floral arrangement). Proceeded to vacuum the living and dining rooms since crumbs from last night's barbecue wouldn't look so good when the same people show up tomorrow for brunch. Changed into a dry t-shirt. Unpacked most of the trunk of the car before deciding I had probably done enough for the day. Made gin-and-tonic and headed to the computer to write this entry. Heard loud slamming noise downstairs before I even got logged in. Discovered it was Kristin, dropping stuff off on her way to pick up pizzas to feed the boys back at the hotel. Carried Josh's dress clothes in and waited for my heartbeat to drop from the "I thought I was alone in the house" reaction that horror movies have trained into us. Stopped to appreciate the fact that I don't actually watch any horror movies. Went back to computer, wrote this, and started considering whether to take another shower, just change my shirt again, or give up completely and accept that I'll be damp in this weather no matter what I do.
