No one would happen to know what the minimum enlistment age was in England during WW2, would they?
Yeah, I'm doing a timeline for my version of Narnia (which is following canon in some timing respects, but is ending up aging most of the characters by about three years because I don't like Lewis' timing) and I want to know when Peter could enlist, because I know he's going to be in the war at least a war the way things are shaping up (assuming he signs up as soon as he's able, which I think he would).
Also, did they institute a draft?
Also also, this is only a timeline of what's going on in England, including the birthdays of all six kids and when they went to school (because some of Lewis' details don't make sense). He makes it sound like it's summer break while they're out in the country, but the Blitz started near the beginning of September (I know the Blitz fairly well, I've given one report on it and I'm about to do another next month) and as far as I'm aware that's when any real effort began to send children into the countryside. So right now I've got them spending the fall term in the country with Professor Kirke. Their mother comes up for Christmas break, they agree that the two boys and Susan will go back to their boarding schools for the spring term, while Lucy remains in the country and their mother returns to London. They return to London after that, the Blitz being over. Early that summer their father comes home on sick leave and stays for about two months (during which As They Were is set). Around Aug. 30-31st, while they're on the station about to return to boarding school (all four of them, since Lucy has now been enrolled too), they return to Narnia and then come back. And from there I've got a bit to go on...
Hey, I'm very dedicated when it comes to understanding timing! XD
