Clean and freshly dressed, he pulled a tooth on a ribbon from his pocket and tied it around his neck. It looked ridiculous, but he wanted to make sure she saw it.
He sauntered into the clinic, keeping out of the way as he made his way to her bedside and sat, taking her hand lightly and waiting.
He was more patient than people gave him credit for.

She knows she's not supposed to be crying, but she can't help it, the sob bubbling up from her throat before she can even think of suppressing it.

Only then does she notice the tooth around his neck, and she lets out a strained squeak of surprise. "I thought I'd lost it," she chokes out as she stares at him, wide eyes swimming with tears.

Ducking outside, he picked some lilies and got a glass from the kitchen to put them in, then came back into the clinic, wincing a little. "Hullo," he said softly, setting them on the table by her bedside.

"Hi," she whispers roughly, her gaze shifting from his face to the lilies and back again. "Thank you." Her lips purse slightly as she fights the urge to cry. She's been told not to cry. Her eyes well anyway.

Gwen staring at the ceiling and crying causes tears to come to Tosh's eyes. It was amazing how close they'd come to losing her. To losing so many. "Gwen," she said softly, making her way to her bedside, lowering herself onto a stool, wincing slightly. "Gwen, I'm sorry." She wasn't sure what for, this wasn't her fault, but somehow it just seemed to be what she wanted to say.

Pulling off a bit of clean gauze from a roll, Ianto seated himself beside Gwen's bed, a gentle smile on his features. "Hello," he said softly, wiping at her cheeks carefully. "How are you feeling?"

"Ianto," she breathes as she stares up at him, and her eyes are damp but damn it, she is not going to cry anymore. "Are you okay?"
