i really like rolling stone magazine. the articles they write are usually great. but why do they have to have so many adverstisements? it's getting absolutely ridiculous. the first page of the current issue doesn't start until page 31. there are 30 fucking pages of ads before that, which are all basically for clothing, except the people in the ads aren't really wearing anything. if i want to see a bunch of naked models, i'll get a different kind of magazine. i pay for rolling stone because i want to read about musicians.
speaking of models, it is so stupid how much this society is obsessed with them. if you watch a late night show, like the tonight show or late night, i swear almost every week they have some girl on the show and actually interview her about this photoshoot or that photoshoot. i don't understand why people are fascinated by people who spend their lives standing around for people to look at them. not only are people interested in models for the most shallow and superficial reasons, they actually put them on tv and listen to what they say. models have no talent at all. so they're really attractive, big fucking deal. and now, some of the most popular people in music use their bodies to sell their music. this has to be one of the worst ideas ever. "oh my god, britney spears is so hot, i'm going to buy her CD!"
no, i'm not saying i don't like attractive people, and i'm not saying good looks are never important. but making it a factor in music is totally unnacceptable. but i don't have mainstream views on religion, i don't like mainstream movies, and i don't care about the things that most people do. so i guess my opinions on this subject wouldn't be any different.
