I heard the door close even with the water still running. She'd left me alone. They weren't supposed to do that. Sires are supposed to teach the new vampire what to do, how to hunt, things like that. But Britney wouldn't want to be around me any more. I was too cold. She'd told me she didn't like vampires because they didn't feel like humans, they felt dead. I was just as dead as she was though. Slammed my fist into the wall and watched a couple of tiles fall.

Shutting the water off, I walked over to the mirror. There was nothing to see. Guess that was good because I'd stopped wanting to look at myself in the mirror a while ago. I hadn't liked the man who looked back at me any more. Dried myself off, running my fingers through my hair. It was too long. I'd never know how it looked any more. I'd get a haircut before leaving. A hotel like this was bound to have a barber. He could cut my hair and then I'd break his neck. That would be fun.

Pulled my clothes on and checked the window. The sun was just inching under the horizon. Looks like it's play time. I grabbed the body of the waiter, still attached to the chair, and threw him through the balcony window, laughing as I heard the splat from the ground. People were screaming and it was music to my ears. I smiled and left the room. They wouldn't even know where it had come from until I was gone. Got into the elevator and smiled at a woman that was already inside. I pushed the button for the lobby and by the time we'd reached it, her guts were coating the walls. I wiped my hands off on her shirt and stepped out.

Looked around for a moment before I spotted a thing for hair cuts. Perfect. Got a nice trim. It hadn't been this short since I'd been with Darla. I thanked the man and snapped his neck. People were running all over the place now. They'd found the woman in the elevator and they were still screaming about the waiter. Just wait until they found this guy. His head was backwards. You didn't see that shit every day.

So much to see, taste, and smell now. It was like I'd been reborn, everything was fresh and new. I wasn't done having fun yet. Walking along the hall I saw a sign for an arcade. I'd always liked those things. I came inside and saw there was a children's birthday party going on. All the adults were gone though. What a shame. Shouldn't leave kids unattended, you never know what montser might get his hands on them. Thought about what I'd told Britney before about not hurting kids because they hadn't had a chacne to live yet. Suppose that was still true.

I knew right from wrong, but I didn't care. Hell, I think I'd stopped caring long before I really lost my soul. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a wad of cash. "Hey kids, come here." They all turned and looked at me. I spread the money out in my hand and their eyes went wide. "Tell you what. I'll give each of you one of these hundreds if you get out of here for an hour and hide. No matter how much your parents yell for you stay hidden. It's part of a party game." I gave them a friendly smile. One by one they inched forward, probably thinking about not talking about strangers, but these were hundreds in my hand. Who would pass that up? And their parents would freak out. They took the money and ran off, leaving me alone in the room.

Put a quarter into one of the games and when an adult came by to check, I informed her that there hadn't been any children when I'd arrived. She let out a scream and ran off. I smiled and headed outside into the world. There were very few people who could stop me now. I was stronger, faster, and deadlier than a human. So much food, so little time. But then again, I did have forever. Grabbed the first person I saw and sunk my fangs into his neck before pulling back. He blinked at me for a moment and then I snapped his neck. No one stopped, no one cared. People are all in their own little worlds now. Eventually someone would notice, but by then I'd be long gone into the night. If Britney wanted me, she'd call. If not, fuck her. No one owned me any more, especially not some Sire who ditched my ass within an hour of my rising. Too bad Angel wasn't around, I'd love to run into him now.
