STOP THE PRESSES STOP THE PRESSES THIS IS THE MOST AWESOMEST THING EVER !!!! OMG thank you - whoever you are, my dear Secret Santa this is so PERFECT in so many ways I can't even begin to describe! Multiple POVs, great (seriously GREAT) characterizations, interesting plot going all the way back to 1988. (I can hazard guessing the identity of Nat's baby, and if I'm right I won't be disappointed a tiny little bit, oh God, please let my guess be correct!!)

But seriously this is like three or four gifts wrapped into one, like when you unwrap whatever was waiting for you under a tree and you find your favorite chocolate, a book you were waiting for to publish, warmest socks ever and extra little something you weren't even aware you wanted. You gave me crossover with Agents of SHIELD and so far you've done such amazing job with it. I just LOVE how you wrote May, quiet and focused like she is on the show but, back before Bahrain, with more fire about her. Exactly like Coulson described her (scratching powder? No wonder Clint liked her!) I love that Clint was a rookie on her team and that he was and probably still is her friend, I love that. I love your take on Clint, and how he grew, how his heart was and is in the right place, even though he can trip over his feet, literally and metaphorically. Coulson was amazing too, as is your take on what happened in Bahrain. Very human, something that's easy to imagine happening and certainly would affect a person.

Finally Natasha and Red Room - I think you really pulled off great and complex characterization for Nat; someone who was trained to be RR's puppet, but they didn't manage to cut out all humanity out of her, and ultimately that's what saves her. She reads as cautious, smart, drawn - in, as she is in the movies, but not unsociable and not illiterate regarding her own emotions or those of other people. Just uncertain at times, which I think is just right. I love how Clint is being her friend, trying to show her there are so many good things about the world, but not trying to fix her or turn her into a "real person".

The final bit with the candle was so wonderful - like bright and warm light in a dark room, and even though it's tiny it's so very hopeful. I love the emotion between two of them there, the solid promise of more to come, and OH GOD I GET TWO MORE CHRISTMASES, AKA MORE OF THIS FIC, I AM SO HAPPY. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. SERIOUSLY, THANK YOU FOR THIS, for all the effort and amazing work you've put into this story.

Now I'm off to listen to music!!!!!! (Man I got music too, awesome!!!! :DDDD)
