Cool Stuff in May (for DC, Baltimore, & the Mid-Atlantic)...

May 05, 2009 04:39

With spring in full bloom & summer soon upon us, this year's main party season is well under way. Indeed, there are a number of great events to entice & entertain (mainstream & alternative). So plan you calendar & get out to see what the scene really has to offer!  We're pleased to be part of such a diverse culture with so much to offer, so we'll hope to see you out & about!

Featured Events:

This Sat (5/9): Sex 2.0 - A full day event featuring an array of various presenters offering a forum of informal sex positive discussion. This year's focus will be on the intersection of social media, feminism, & sexuality. Additional meet-ups, gatherings, & parties are planned for Friday & Saturday evening, plus a Sunday brunch.

The Metro is authorized to provide a special Discount. Use the code "10off" when prompted upon registration & get $10 off the $40 registration fee. We're also able to offer 2 free tickets for any organizer of a regionally based 'sex-positive' organization. Just email your organization name to the event promoters (listed on the site) and they will send you a unique code for 2 free tickets. Just tell them you were referred by Rick of The Metro Underground…

Sun May 24th - Tabu Takeover / Studio 54 Party (www.luckyplayparty.com): the man, the legend British Lucky Paul, he had a dream to throw a party so huge that it would be forever remembered. Soon he had an idea, to bring Studio 54 back from an era long since past & throw one of the best damn parties the scene had ever seen. So on Memorial Day Weekend, the original may be gone but you can relive a time of models & mayhem, decadence & desire, all in a place where anything goes & there are no rules. For one night, we'll take over the Tabu Social Club & transform it into a party of legendary stature. Indeed, a night worthy of its name & reputation: Studio 54...

Doors open at 8pm w/ final entry at 11pm (last call is 2am, w/ after hours at the Ramada). Tabu is at 1115 N Rolling Road, Catonsville, MD (a beautiful underground club located discreetly behind an unassuming Chinese Restaurant). Tickets are $20 in advance. The event is BYOB, but there's a fully functional bar. To which, Rick & Ariel will be your guest bartenders, so expect awesome drinks & total debauchery all night long - including "cocaine body shots" (& yes, they're legal).  Mixers & mayhem provided. Venue provides bar, café seating, dance floor, dancing cages, DJ, full dungeon equipment, fantasy rooms, & a professional light & sound system.  Don't want to drive home? The local Ramada is only $55 for accommodations of 4 people. It's night not be missed!
