It has been ages since I posted, so this is guaranteed to be out of order and a tad longish
So, both sets of parents have been informed, and are thrilled. Emily and I have started planning the wedding, and occasionally researching eloping ($30 and no waiting period in CT). Neither of us have any money and she is quite clear that she doesn't want to accept money from either set of parents, so we decided to have a small wedding (roughly 25 people). We agreed upon the formula and despite some pushing from her mom are sticking with it. In order to celebrate with additional people we decided to have another party a year later that is more casual.
Em came up to MA on 12/12 to join me in going to a birthday party. We had a great time watching "All About Christmas Eve" -- a Ryan Landry play, partying into the wee hours and then clothing optional hot tubbing. Sadly, a guy barreled into her chair at the club, and as of Saturday am, Em couldn't get out of bed without help. We went to the ER, picked up flexeril (a muscle relaxer) and oxycodone (percocet). Her family then drove up, so that we could collect the cars and make the caravan back to CT. I stayed until Tuesday night, because Em was miserable (we ended up back at the hospital on Monday because the percocet ran out and nothing was better.) She is mostly better, and is off the percocet now, so yay!
I've been telling my friends about the engagement, with mostly positive responses, and I decided it isn't worth my time to fixate on the negative or lukewarm ones.
I've been off from work since about 1am last Friday, which has been awesome. I drove down to CT before the first snowflakes started to fall, and school was canceled, so the three of us just bummed around.
On Sunday, we had a "Friends' Christmas" made up of Emily's friends. One couple bought me the Battlestar Galactica board game, which appears to require a PhD in order to actually play. I then traded in my "Bacon is a Vegetable" t-shirt for the "Greetings from Caprica City" shirt that
dionethoughts had given me.
I've been bringing the boy to and from school, and we went sledding yesterday, which was fun, but chilly.
I came home today to check on the snail mail, and watch a bit of tivo before I head back to CT. Speaking of which, time to start heading back thattaway..
