Summary: On her first night on Serenity River dreams...
On her first night on Serenity River dreams.
Her dreams were of the past, the present, and the future.
She dreamed of a childhood snatched away. Of a father too focused on his son and the family position to notice the coded cries for help. Of a mother too immersed in her friends and charities to see what her son was so desperately trying to bring to light. And of a brother who was willing to do anything to save her. Save her from what he did not know; but still he gave up his life because she was his sister.
Of demons to be fought-both within her own mind and in the physical world.
Of friends found and loves lost.
Of blood spilt and greed overcome.
And of children.
Children belonging to an Amazon warrior and a beloved pilot, who would always fight the good fight on behalf of those who could not help themselves.
Her brother’s children, one who would be gifted with the ability to heal the body another with her mother’s ability to heal their ship and a third who would become the dancer River had once dreamt of becoming.
A child of a tired and beaten Captain and a world weary Companion. She would give her parents a renewed purpose and hope for the future.
And River dreamt of her own children. Children with the brilliance of their mother tempered with the street smarts of their devoted father.
And River dreamt of love; a love that would define her life-give her an anchor on her bad days and a source of joy on her good days.
And on a ship named Serenity-a ship named for a bloody battle where her captain had lost his war and his faith-River found the beginnings of peace.
