My initial reaction to the question was that remaining in fealty to the memory of one's knight was a wonderful way to honour the knight's memory. But on reflection, I realized that that is probably a Victorian sort of sentimentality.
And in truth, it is, in my opinion, no honour to the late knight if his squire continues to serve his memory, for that leaves the squire without the guidance, tutelage, and inspiration of the knight, thereby lessening the likelihood that the squire will continue along the Path of Chivalry, and consequently increasing the likelihood of stagnation.
So I will heartily agree that the best way for a squire to honour the memory of a departed knight is to seek out another knight whose view of the Path is compatible with that of the departed knight, and continue to strive for improvement and advancement. The best way a squire can honour his knight, alive or dead, is to become the best and knightliest he can (note that I do not included the accolade in that equation), and in so doing to bring honour to the knight and all others of the knight's house. And for most of us, the active participation of the knight is a crucial part of the growth.
