Grace can finish this growth spurt she is on just about any second now. She is up till like 10 pm every night, up with the sun, and will not nap, at least not for me. She flat wore me out yesterday.
I have been burning the candle at both ends and it is catching up with me. I'm sorta glad that we don't have Netflicks yet because even renting dvd's from the library can get addicting....I really don't need to be up till 2 am watching Rescue Me. I also don't need to be drinking like Dennis Leary's character. Seriously, I'm cutting back. Speaking of which.
A couple of shorts:
Early Sunday morning, like 5ish am I went to the bathroom. (Admittedly more than a little tipsy on benydrel and booze). After using the facilities, for some reason I turned right instead of left out of the bathroom. I tend to walk around with my eyes closed sometimes at night, since I’m such a light sleeper that if I keep them open I tend to wake up and have a hard time falling back to sleep sleep.
You want to know how to wake up, really, really quickly though? Make a right out of your bathroom and step out into thin air. As I was falling down the stairs I realized that I am a complete idiot. I am very lucky that I didn't break anything. I threw myself backwards out of reflex when my ankle rolled and I bruised the crap out of myself.
I look like I either went to a very good or a very bad fighter practice. It's amazing in fact how much these bruises, down to their placement are like bruises from fighting. My ankle and knee were sore. I bruised (hopefully only bruised) my right elbow, my deltoids, my thighs, my hip and butt. The fall also made my back flare up. I got x-rays of that yesterday at the back doctor and all is well there.
I've always loved the lyric to "Never Do Anything" by BNL but I don't need to be imitating anything that Steve Page does...
I'm feeling mostly human after rest, ice and anti-inflams. I'm going to try and fight tonight and see how the elbow feels. I iced it pretty aggressively last night and the swelling has gone down and the bruising spreading so that is a good thing I think.
Another piece of suck was that last night, after a marathon day of chasing the girl around we took Julie out to "Q" BBQ our new favorite restaurant and then to Brewster’s for Ice Cream for Gracie. Grace had her first real ice cream cone, which means that I held it and got covered in chocolate and sprinkles. When we got in the van to go, the battery was dead. After several frantic phone calls (it was like 95+ degrees outside and Grace doesn't handle the heat very well) to friends Fred came and picked up the girls and Travis jumped me and followed me to Advanced to get a new battery. When the dude was taking off the cables the terminal snapped off in them so I spent about an hour watching Manny, Moe and Jack screw around with that. The funny thing is that if I had had my armour repair kit in the van still I could have fixed it in about five minutes. But that is what you pay for the warranty for so....
Trav was a trooper and even went to Moe and Kitty's house for me and turned off their breaker so I that I could get back by 9:30. I'm very grateful to have such excellent friends that is for sure.
Anyway, it's been a very, very long last couple of days. Practice tonight. Time to drink more water.
Speaking of water, I really need it to rain. I mean it will be nice to fight outside again and do some mellee work, but the garden is really suffering.
