Battered of shield and crest, bannerless, bruises and lame.

One soda, and working on my second cuppa coffee. I think I can do this.

So....

Grace has a cold. Yuck. Not a good time for that (not that there ever is...) Last night she woke up crying off and on all night. I had flashbacks to the early days. At about 6 Kim got up and just held her and let me get some sleep. Before that though I was tossing and turning. I had stress nightmares about work again, and of course Grace was crying. I also had hot and cold running hand pain last night.

At practice I got my left thumb whacked. Nail is bruised a tiny bit and very sore (forgot to grab drugs this morning) but more importantly I agitated a pre-existing injury to it (slight sprain? Ligament damage? Who knows...) that I think I got at Pennsic or there abouts.

It is amazing, btw, all the many, many things you need a thumb for, even a left one. All sortas of small rotating motions that it is involved in...

Anyway, that was mostly ok, but at some point last night the rain started and with the barometric pressure change, my tendonitis/carpel tunnel flared up HARD in my right hand. So the dull throbbing in the left hand, the screaming kid, the stress dreams when I did fall asleep and blinding shooting pains in the right hand.

Not a good night for sleeping. Coffee will be strong and liberally applied today. I think it is time to recognize that if I am going to keep fighting greatweapons I need to get a new pair of gauntlets. My decade + old pair of aluminum gauntlets that Mikael made me are just not up to snuff anymore.

(And Corby is always in the back of my head giving me the mechanical thumb attachment rant....)

So I need to save up for an inexpensive and yet protective alternative.

Getting old sucks it, that is for sure. I have a slight suspicion that what I felt in my right hand (fingers actually) was not tendon based but arthritis. Ugh. I know that is coming, but I had hoped to keep it at bay for a few more years.

It's a dreary day in the Capital City. I'd like to sleep now, but I know I can't. My boss is playing Santa today at the Children's Hospital (literally) so he won't be in for much longer. I got the word that we are subbing out one of our architects soon to a larger firm. Basically using him as a temp. They have work, we don't. It might help a little.

Oh yeah, I think I am getting Grace's cold, or this is sinus funk. (I realized yesterday after having a sinus headache two days in a row that I had forgotten to take either of my nose sprays - this is after going off the Singular a week or so ago...yikes!)

I just sneezed and it caused my thumb to throb, which made me a little nauseous.

What a day.
