I think there are a few scary things going on in the world that most people either know nothing about or casually dismiss. This level of apathy really worries me.

1) Russia continues to find new ways to shake things up. If selling arms to less then ideal governments is not enough, they are invading sovereign countries and now, looking to sell countries like Iran specific missiles to help them defend their nuclear sites. It also worries me that so much focus on Iraq, the War on Terror and now the economy will allow others in the world to do things under our nose.

2) MAJOR financial turmoil. I do not think people realize how major this is. The companies having major financial troubles are not ones of the past like Enron and WorldCom. We are talking financial institutions whose function is very heavily interconnected with many other industries in this country and globally. Some of these are companies that finance the debt with which other companies in turn use to grow their business. A great point made to show how serious an issue this is was that the party that usually never wants government intervention in the "free market" has now led and approved some of the biggest infusions of tax-payer money into these business and the economy.

3) That fact that neither presidential candidate has really said anything about either of these issues or really purposed any good ideas to address them. John McCain says fire the SEC Chief and the foundation of the economy is solid while Barrack Obama says get rid of the whole administration and has "hope" that Americans will show resolve and make their way through the tough times.

It scares me that I found myself agreeing with three of Bill O'Riely's talking points segments.
